Rates of growth/reducing of the population size of ukrainian cities for 2002-2014
Figure 1. The map of dynamics of the population size of ukrainian cities The map is compiled based on the results of the processing of data from the State Statistics Service of Ukraine. Selected 369 most indicative settlements, among which: 47 large, 248 peripheral-agrarian and 74 peripheral industrial cities.
A brief analysis of the content of the map, conclusions that can be made on the mapThe percentage of population increase or decrease in the urban context indicates the demographic changes of the urban population. One can see that the largest decrease in the population occurred in large industrial centers, especially in Donetsk, as well as in Luhansk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovograd, Cherkasy, and Crimea. This can be linked to the unstable economic situation in the country. Relatively small positive dynamics are shown by Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytsky, Ternopil and Chernivtsi regions. This is due to the relatively high birth rates in these regions. Negative dynamics in cities in the western border areas is connected with the outflow of their inhabitants through emigration.
Technological scheme of map manufacturingCreating a map involves several technological steps.
Ways to obtain the mapThe map can be used to reflect the demographic situation in Ukraine, identify demographic problems in the regions, assess the dynamics of the urban population. In a way, the map can illustrate the economic situation in Ukraine and change its role in the global division of labor. The authors of the collection of scientific works "Cartography Template" can use the concept of the map on a free basis. Its cost is included in the publication fee. On the other hand, if necessary, we can refine the map so that it more accurately reflects the results of your research. To do this, you must contact the editorial office. |
