The article is devoted to the research of natural regeneration for the vegetation on the lands, which are no more affected by human activity. The study of succession in these lands is a matter of significant ecological and economic importance, because it facilitates their further rational use. The productivity of depleted land will be improved due to controlled succession, and these lands may be involved in the further agricultural use, when it will be need. The basic concepts of succession were showed and analyzed in the article; the authors, who have worked on the issue of anthropodynamic succession, were noted; and the processes of fields overgrowth were admitted as the most informative among them. Special attention was paid to the decoding method for different types of succession processes based on satellite imagery and definition for the previous ways of land use on the overgrown areas using direct and indirect signs. Geoinformation modeling were applied for visualization and determining the degree for different types of territory overgrowth; and the model of succession processes spread in the geosystem of Berezhnytsya river basin was created. The representative area for a better understanding of degree and speed of restoration for natural vegetation at the abandoned lands was selected; and a more detailed analysis of the species and ages of trees for this territory was performed. The variants of monitoring for the succession process were proposed as conclusions. Keywords: interpretation of aerospece images, basin-river geosystems, natural and economic system.
