This paper examines cartographic component of training tourist managers and, in particular, teaching tourist, topographic and local lore studying practice, which concludes course of «Topography with elements of geodesy and tourism navigation» in the curriculum of area studies and tourism department of Kiev national Taras Shevchenko University as a favorable form of creating among students corresponding practical skills. For instance, skills of operating with GPS-receivers, used in navigating, heighting, determination of geographical and other coordinates on the ground, laying hiking trails and other tasks; using methods and rules of applying location plans for solving scientific and practical issues.
