The research on the transformation of suburbs space on the example of satellite towns Bucha and Ukrainika, which being in the zone of influence of the capital city, perceive fully “burden” of this neighborhood was conducted. Within the experimental area of these ones, the fieldwork was carried out and two methods were approbated. First method is sociological poll of town residents to identify public opinion on transformation on urban space. Second method is mapping change of functions and the level of accomplishment of plane and out of scale (point and line) objects of the town - as agents of transformation. Together with historic-geographic method, it was possible to give an objective assessment of those changes affecting Kyiv’s suburban area and identify common trends. The results of analysis of the sociological poll, mapping features of transformation together with retrospective review of the territory development permitted to found the characteristic signs of changes urban space within each experimental area. General trends of spatial transformations suburbs of the capital region were formulated: low level of services in the fields of education, medicine, municipal services and expansion of urban areas is often due to green areas. Population growth, what is the result of a lack of strategic planning of cities, generates challenges that can occur in the future in the field of urban development and settlement system, as well as financing and operation infrastructure.
