The article is dedicated to the issues of mapping events during the Second World War on the historical maps in the USA. The content of geographical foundations of the historical maps published in the USA is analyzed (particular attention is paid to peculiarities of generalization and its levels). The paper examines and investigates thematic loading of the presented mapping works such as: «Second World War. Soviet Invasion 1939-1942», «Western Europe, 1940. Overlord plan, Combined bomber offensive, and German dispositions, 6 June 1944», «West-Central Europe, 1944. Allied gains in Europe (15 December 1944 – 7 May 1945)», «THE SECOND WORD WAR. THE PACIFIC THEATRE (1941-1945)», «FAR EAST AND PACIFIC, 1941-1945. MAJOR OPERATIONS OF WORLD WAR TWO IN THE PACIFIC THEATER», «SECOND WORD WAR. THE PACIFIC THEATER (1941-1945)», «ALLIED OPERATIONS IN WORLD WAR II (1942-1945)», «PACIFIC THEATER IN WWII (1941 – 1945)». The study of historical mapping works published in the USA makes it possible to identify a number of differences from native historical maps. There are the sketchiness of geographical base, the absence of mathematical basis elements (a mapping network, a scale in some cases), light informational content, symbols of simple (not complicated) structure, the partial contradiction of legend with thematic content displayed on the map. Keywords: historical maps, mapping, World War II.
