When creating digital maps, there is a lack of specialized documents or software for assessing the vectorization complexity of nomenclatural sheet of digital topographic map. The creation of methodology and specialized software to determine the complexity of nomenclatural topographic map sheet are considered in article. Topographic map sheets, which to be tracing, classified in terms of manufacturing complexity and depending on it to determine the time of processing. The process of evaluation of complexity map sheet held as follows: the image, which is similar to the load nomenclatural sheet in the album of complexity of topographic maps is looking for there or measuring grid applied and calculated the number of elementary objects that are within the boundaries defined by measuring grid area. That is the definition of complexity sheet by comparison with a standard. However, standards do not exist for all elements of graphic loading. But this way does not always give an objective assessment of the complexity of sheet. Resolving automatic evaluation of technological complexity vectorization of cartographic material is possible by Hough transform applying, which is widely used in problems of pattern recognition and image processing. As a result of the Hough transform will be function, which is distributed so that the brightest and extended straight path segments in the image will meet local maxima in the plane of Hough parameters. That linear and planar scanning objects are converted to vector format by providing straight segments and further their associations. Hough transform is a handy tool for automated determination of complexity of map sheet.
